Entirely fictional reports from organisations experiencing unusually high levels of strategic movement.
INCIDENT 01 · DECISION LANE
The Decision Acceleration Programme
Leadership became concerned that decisions were taking too long, so a Decision Acceleration Working Group was established.
It created a decision framework, decision taxonomy, decision governance model and a fortnightly Decision Acceleration Steering Committee.
The first decision was postponed pending approval of the decision-making framework.
INCIDENT 02 · PRIORITY JUNCTION
The Priority Rationalisation Exercise
The organisation had 27 priorities. Leadership agreed this was too many and launched a strategic initiative to simplify them.
Following consultation, seven new priority themes and four cross-cutting strategic enablers were introduced.
There were now 38 priorities, but only 11 headings.
INCIDENT 03 · GOVERNANCE LOOP
The Meeting Reduction Taskforce
Employees were spending too much time in meetings, so a cross-functional taskforce met twice a week to investigate.
Four workstreams and a monthly governance forum were introduced to monitor meeting reduction.
Meeting levels improved when the meeting-reduction taskforce was cancelled.
